- Sheng Di Huang cools the blood, nourishes Yin, controls heat in the Ht.
- Mu Tong clears fire from the Ht channel above, clears heat, promotes urination through the SI.
- Sheng Gan Cao Shao is used for clearing heat and detoxing directly through the urinary tract to relieve pain and Lin Syndrome.
- Zhu Ye clears heat, nourishes Yin, and promotes urination.
Function: Clears Ht heat, nourishes Yin, Promotes urination
Indications: Heat in the Ht and SI channels
Symptoms: Irritibility with sensation of heat in the chest, thirst with a desire to drink cold beverages, red face, possibly sores around the mouth and tongue. Also used for dark, scanty, rough,and painful urination, or clearly visible blood in the urine.
Tongue: Red
Pulse: Rapid
Clinical Applications:
- This is the formula commonly used for clearing the Ht, promoting urination, and nourishing Yin.
- The key symptoms are irritability with a sensation of heat in the chest, thirst, sores around the mouth and tongue, or dark, scanty, rough, and painful urination. Red tongue, and rapid pulse.
- For cases with vigorous fire, add Huang Lian.
- For Ht fire transferred to SI channel marked by urinary difficulty, add Che Qian Zi and Chi Fu Ling.
- Currently used for stomatitis, thrush, and morbid night crying of babies due to Ht channel heat, and acute urinary tract infection due to LJ damp heat.
Cautions and Contraindications: Use with caution in cases with Sp and St deficiency.
