- Zhu Ling strongly promotes urination.
- Ze Xie strongly promotes urination, colder and can slightly clear heat.
- Fu Ling promotes urination, drains interior damp, tonifies Sp Qi.
- Hua Shi clears heat and unblocks Lin syndrome.
- E Jiao enriches the Yin, stops bleeding, and prevents excessive urination from damaging Yin.
Function: Promotes urination, clears heat, nourishes Yin.
Diagnosis: Water and heat clumping in the UB with Kd Yin injury (Shaoyin heat transforming syndrome)
Indications:
- Urinary difficulty, thirst, fever. There may be irritability, insomnia, cough, nausea, and diarrhea.
- Bloody Lin syndrome marked by difficult, dripping, painful urination. Fullness, distention, and pain in the lower abdomen.
Tongue: Red with white or slightly yellow coating.
Pulse: Thready and rapid.
Clinical Applications:
- The prominent action of this formula is promoting urination, secondarily clearing heat and nourishing Kd Yin.
- The key symptoms are urinary difficulty, thirst, fever, red tongue, rapid pulse.
- Also used for heat Lin syndrome and Bloody Lin syndrome due to more damp than heat, and Yin deficiency, For Heat Lin syndrome, add Zhi Zi and Che Qian Zi. For bloody Lin syndrome, add Bai Mao Gen, Da Ji, and Xiao Ji.
- Currently used for treating UTI, nephritis, etc.. marked by scanty urine due to water heat clumping with Yin deficiency.
Cautions and Contraindications: Contraindicated for extremely vigorous internal heat, severe damage of Yin and body fluids.
